Why Obama Won and why it will be good for America

Hello YouTubers

I am the HappyCabbie.

This is a follow up video to My Views on the 2008 Election. I would like to title this video Why Obama won and why his victory was good for this country. Now before I begin I would like to reference a buliten that was posted by DAuc90

Well the libs have finally attacked my latest video. Come on conservatives, can I get some back up? At least ONE positive comment? One person I don’t have to block? Someone who will back me up?

Now I do sympathize with DAuc90. While I disagree with his political views I do not believe anyone should be harassed. I know he doesn’t want to block anybody. He has no problems defending his positions but a person can only stand hate mail for so long. When His video was posted I decided to put it up on my channel for Autoplay. I left it there until it had 300 views or so, and I also posted a video response to it. This was to try and get his channel some more subscribers as he has been very kind to me. This is the great thing about YouTube. People can be friends even when we disagree.

Now onto the video. Barak Obama is the President-Elect and will take office in January 2009. He has already chosen

Rahm Emanuel of congress to be his chief of staff. He has been in congress for five years and already is the fourth ranking Democrat in congress. He has been working with President Bush to make a smooth transition and try to avoid the mistakes made by his Democrat predecessor President Clinton. President-Elect Obama has one weakness. Lack of experience. The last time we elected a politician with only 6 years experience it did not work out so well. Obama, however has for the past two years of his campaign for office has surrounded himself with highly experienced people. Unlike other candidates and presidents there has been no scandals involved with his associates. Unless of course you count people he lived near when he was 8 years old.

So lets discuss the controversy and attacks made by the McCain campain and others that tried unsuccessfully to discredit President-Elect Obama. When President-Elect Obama was 8 years old he lived in the same neighborhood as William Ayers. William Ayers is a anti-war radical that was greatly opposed to the Vietnam War and to this day opposes military recruitment in schools. He and others in his group set off bombs and destroyed twice a statue dedicated to the memory of fallen Riot Police. By no means is William Ayers a good person.

However lets take a look at Willaim Ayers other associations. He currently is a professor at the University of Chicago. In 1995 he worked with Chicago Mayer Daley and co-authored The Chicago Anneberg Challenge which matched public money with private donnations to help Chigago public schools. During this time Barak Obama was appointed dirrector to oversee the distribution of the grants. Ayers and Obama also served on the Woods Fund of Chicago. Their mission statement is to promote anarchy and foster Islamic Fundamentalism in the minds of the young. I’m just messing with you. Their real mission statement is to be “a grant making foundation whose goal is to increase opportunities for less advantaged people and communities in the metropolitan area, including the opportunity to shape decisions affecting them. The foundation works primarily as a funding partner with nonprofit organizations. Woods supports nonprofits in their important roles of engaging people in civic life, addressing the causes of poverty and other challenges facing the region, promoting more effective public policies, reducing racism and other barriers to equal opportunity, and building a sense of community and common ground”

Ayes was probably selected for the board not because of his political views but rather his background in education and fund raising ability. The fact that you used to live next to somebody and served on the same board as someone hardly means that you agree with their positions. Now had Obama sat on a board called Lets Bomb Everything then you might have a valid point.

Ok so William Ayers held a private party in his house and State Senator Alice Palmer introduced her supporters to get behind Barak Obama. Big deal. Lets not forget that McCain did the same thing when he had a fundraiser in the home of G Gordon Liddy in 1998. Now for those who do not know, G Gordon Liddy went to prison for his role in the Watergate Scandal and has since become a nationally syndicated radio talk show host. I find his show entertaining and I listened to it frequently when I was a truck driver.

However a felon is a felon is a felon. If we are going to hold Ayers accountable for the things he did back in the 70’s we should hold Liddy accountable as well. But again let me restate, I am not defending William Ayers. Obama has said he did not approve of the things he did back in the day nor does he agree with his current political views. So why did he serve on the board? Well come on now. Have you ever had to work with an asshole? Why did you do it. To get paid. To make sure the job got done. Most of us have done some kind of charity work. Some visit in hospitals or volunteer at soup kitchens or something. Ever volunteer with an asshole?

Ok now lets talk about Rev. Dr. Jerimiah Wright Jr. and Trinity United Church of Christ where President-Elect Obama was a member for many years. Ok, Dr. Wright’s theology is different than what most of us are used to. In my opinion President-Elect Obama was wrong to distance himself from this church just to get elected. One thing you do not do is you do not turn your back on your friends. You may recall President Jimmy Carter had a church problem himself. His church split when the media spotlight was on it. Back in that day some churches would not allow blacks to join. Jimmy Carter and others who left went on to form their own church. Now Plains Southern Baptist Church was wrong to refuse blacks into their church but this was the norm for the 1970’s in the south. And we wonder why some black preachers sound so angry.

Some of you younger people don’t remember a time when a black could not use a bathroom or even shop in the same store as the whites. This happened. It happened for a long time. Long after slavery, long after they got the right to vote it is only recently that blacks have been allowed the freedom to come and go as they pleased. They can eat any any restaurant they want, except Denny’s. They can shop at any store that they want, and they can go to any church that they want, they can date and marry who ever they want.. This is all fairly recent. This has only been for the last 20 or 25 years.

So yes Reverend Wright has said some very inflammatory things. Things I disagree with, things I do not approve of. However, guess what. I too have belonged to churches where I no longer agree with their theology. I used to belong to a church that would not admit women to leadership positions. They would not let them teach Sunday School. They would not let them sit on the board of trustees. They would not let them be Deacons. They wouldn’t even trust women with collecting the offering. Now this is just plain wrong and is based on an often misinterpreted passagage of the Bible. Sadly many churches still practice this sexist theology. However, I would doubt that any of my subscribers would attribute my views today based on the teachings I received at that church many years ago.

Now there are things I have said that may turn up on the internet if you know where to look that espouse those views. However, you can rest assured I no longer have those views. Likewise, when President-Elect Obama was a member of that church he said things that make you wonder. He did denounce that church and no longer has any ties to it. Again, I believe he did this just to get elected but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Lets see how he behaves in office a few months before we make judements about his religious views.

Acorn is another group that President-Elect Obama has been linked to. They are a community organization that has been fined many times for voter registration irregularities. OK they were busted for fraud. However Voter fraud is America’s favorite political past time. If we are going to link Obama to Accorn then we must link McCain to Nathan Sproul who worked with Lincon Strategy to register voters on behalf of the RNC.

Back when Lincoln Stragegy was Sproul and Associates they were accused of destroying voter registrations for those who registered Democrat. In 2004 they were accused of offering bonuses to their employees for bringing in Republican registrations or Green Party registrations. They have been accused of firing employees who registered democratic voters.

Congressman Chris Cannon R-Uhah said during a joint hearing for the subcommittee on commercial and administrative law back in May 2008: “The difference between ACORN and Sproul is that ACORN doesn’t throw away or change registration documents after they have been filled out.”

So voter registration scandal is nothing new and both parties are to blame.

Ok so President-Elect Obama is a muslim Terrorist.

First lets discuss his parents. His father

Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. was raised a Muslim, he had lost his faith and become a “confirmed atheist”

When Obama’s mother remarried to an Indonesian man named Lolo Soetoro. Lolo Soetoro is a “non-practicing Muslim“ according to President-Elect Obama. As a child Obama has attended to both Catholic and Muslim primary schools after the family moved to Jakarta.
(Update: CNN has tracked down the school in question, the Basuki School in Jakarta, which a deputy headmaster described as a “public school” with no particular religious agenda. “In our daily lives, we try to respect religion, but we don’t give preferential treatment,” he told CNN. A classmate of Obama’s described the school as “general,” with students of many religious backgrounds attending. Obama entered the school at the age of 8 and attended for two years.)

So if he attended Catholic Schools as a child why is nobody afraid of his catholic views? Just because some claim he is a musliim is that a reason to fear him? Are all Muslims terrorists? No. No most are peace loving followers of their God and their Prophet Mohamad. They do not want to kill anyone. To say otherwise is simply just an attack on someone’s religious beliefs.

However, if President-Elect Obama truly was a muslim he is not a very good one. He has been in the public eye for the past two years. He has failed to pray toward Mecca five times a day as required by Muslim Faith. Where is a picture of him holding the Koran? Find a picture of him going into a Mosque to pray. It isn’t there.

Now there is an internet rumor that he used a Koran to swear in as a Senator. You are confusing him with Congressman Keith Ellison who is a Muslim.

So Obama lived briefly in a muslim country and attended a public school run by muslims for two years. Oh my Smurf. We need to loosen up.

These were the attacks launched against Barak Obama during his campain. Some were started by Senator Hillary Clinton and then Senator John McCain tried desperately to bring Obama down with this. Obama had a very effective message. Vote for me because…..

The Clinton Campain had one fatal flaw. No Bill Clinton. Sadly many people remember Senator Clinton in a negative way. She was not able to overcome this tarnished image. President-Elect Obama had some of the same qualities that President Clinton had. Teflon Ability. Nothing sticks to it. The Republicans launched every attack they could againt Clinton but his approval ratings remained high. Likewise when you hear words such as American Hating Muslim Terrorist you just can’t think of Barak Obama that way.

Senator John McCain was a very strong candidate in a very week party. Nobody wanted four more years of Bush. Bush took his eyes off war in Afganistan and off finding Osama Bin Laden. There are several clips on YouTube of Bush admitting he doesn’t think much about Bin Laden any more. Now the whole world was fooled in thinking Saddam Hussain had WMD’s. Perhaps Saddam Husain himself thought he still did. He never let the inspectors in, and the whole world believed that he was a threat. We all know that this was based on faulty intelligence. Some say Bush lied. I don’t know if I want to go that far, simply because the rest of the world lied too. Saddam Hussain could have avoided the whole war had he just let the inspectors in. This much I do believe. Bush lied when he tried to link Iraq to 9/11. He embellished the evidence so he could go in and finish daddy’s war.

The economy was falling apart, the stock market has crashed, homes are foreclosing and not long ago gas was 3 bucks a gallon. Where just two years ago it was $1.50

When this election started it was assumed it would be Guilini and Clinton. I am glad that Guliani did not make it. Despite how many people love him because he had the luck of being the mayor of NYC during 9/11 he is a candidate with a very troubled history. I myself would have liked Clinton to have been president. Obama had one weakness. He was coming from a very strong party. People have had it with Republicans and it was clear that we were going to have a Democrat congress. Obama however has only been Senator for less than 6 years. Last time we elected a President that held office for 6 years it did not work out so well.

When Obama refused to put Senator Clinton on the ticket for Vice President and instead chose Joe Biden he was saying two things. First, he wanted to win for himself. He knew that Senator Clinton would not be a team player but would try to run things her way. On this I agree with his view. Second, he wanted to move ahead to the future instead of trying to relive the past.

Senator then made the one mistake that in my opinion cost him the election. He chose Sarah Palin as his Vice President. There is no way he chose Goveror Palin for her qualifications. She was a mayor of a small town and a Governor for two years. Thus Obama’s greatest weakness is off limits. No longer could the McCain campain use Obama’s lack of experience as a weapon.

McCain made several mistakes in choosing Governor Palin. First and foremost he misunderstood women voters. As a whole, women voters tend to be pro-choice, thus they will not vote for her. He did not secure any swing states in the move. She is from Idaho and Governs in Alaska. He already has those voters. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson would have made a much better female vice president. She is from Texas a red state but her pro-choice views might have pulled some Hilary Clinton voters over to his side.

The other thing that bothers me about his choice of Sarah Palin is his shopping list qualifications. This is what Bill Clinton tried to do when he became president. He sought out to find a diverse cabinet made of men and woman of different races. Something no other president has done before. Sure other presidents had them but only as a token position. Previously the President’s cabinet was reserved for old white men. The problem with this was not many of the people he chose were well qualified. How many Attorney Generals did we try before we found one. Senator McCain obviously told his advisors to find him a prolife female. Sarah Palin was the best they could do. It is not as if McCain was the first to pick a goober for a Vice Presient. We had Vice President Dan Quail who couldn’t spell potato. Kerry picked John Edwards. And my favorite Admiral Stockdale and his hearing aids.

The next mistake that McCain made with Sarah Palin was letting her give interviews. I mean this was a person who needed to be kept away from the press. Maybe they should have taken her to that secure location they are always taking Dick Cheney to on cloudy days. Sarah Palin will go down in history not for her accomplishments as Goveneor of Alaska or the first female on the Repuplican Ticket but for a prank call make by a Canandian Radio Station.

In the last minute of that 6 minute video they thank her for her work in the Documentary Hustler’s Nalin Palin and she actually said thank you.

John McCain’s age played a major role in this election not because we fear old men but because we fear Sarah Palin ever being near those shinny red buttons. The only time she ever needs to be in the White House is when she is part of a tour group.

So in closing I think President Obama will be a good thing for this country. Perhaps we can rebuild friendships that we had right after 9/11 and perhaps we can avoid unnecessary new wars and perhaps we can properly finish the ones we are in.

Perhaps we will not cut VA benefits like we have. Perhaps we will not turn our back on freedoms. Perhaps we can have due process restored. Perhaps no child left behind can be repealed or at least repaired. I am willing to give President Obama a chance. How about you.
